In my decorative wares, I use traditional forms as a vessel for decoration. I find there to be beauty in simplicity. With these pieces, I just want to make something aesthetically beautiful (as opposed to the more gritty or challenging nature of some of my other pieces).
Yet, none of the decorative wares that I create have hollow intentions. I explore the nature of the impressionists, the arts and crafts movement, and still-life paintings. They have inspired me and influenced my application of surface glazes.
My pieces are made to be focal points, captivations of the pursuit of beauty, and to allow my viewer an escape from those bleached-out, monochromatic February afternoons.
